Great New Artists: Valentina/Valsartdiary

Published by worldgirl84 at 7:26 pm under Traditional Painting Edit This

For the next article in this series I am going to talk about someone I have liked for a long time (has it really been two years?!) Valentina. I first discovered her on YouTube, as I think most of her fans did, and even visited her first website which was not nearly as good as this one. Since 2006 she has really grown as an artist and has been extraordinarily open with her audience about the experiences that have led to her subjects.

On her website http://www.valsartdiary.com she posts her latest YouTube videos (which I highly recommend subscribing to http://www.youtube.com/user/valsartdiary), holds silent auctions (yes, even she has abandoned eBay, which I totally understand), and sells her DVD which contains the first ten videos she made for YouTube. My favorite part of her site is her art tips which is a series of videos you get through e-mail subscription detailing how she promotes her art online. But her website is not just for artists but art collectors too there is even a downloadable coloring book based on her paintings that you can get totally for free.

Of course the real reason I have been a fan of hers for so long is her art. It is great to find an artist whose technique transcends the subject because those artists are the ones who can take the most mundane things and present them in a truly unique way. Some of my favorite paintings of hers are the ones of glass bottles. The way she uses colors and styles and blends them together draws the viewer in and forces you to really see the object rather than just glance at it. She hasn’t talked a lot about her influences but I see a lot of different ones in every painting from fauvism and cubism to abstract and impressionism. She truly has a great eye for color also and it is obvious when you watch her paint that she has a plan before she starts which is always admirable.

So if you haven’t already, go now and check her out! http://www.valsartdiary.com
